Kitchen and Bathroom Plumbing Gold Coast

The easiest place to start with DIY plumbing is working with the pipes. Pipes are easily accessible as they generally have some space to work with them. Many people like to fix plumbing problems themselves due to the amount of money they will save. The expensive part in installing a new sink is not the sink itself. The parts that generally wear and cause the problems to the sink are cheaper to replace.

Parts that need replacing are often washers and ‘o’ rings, as they are often the cause of most leaks. Most the time, it’s easy to get to these parts with tools that are already in your house. If you are not sure what you are looking at, take a picture on your mobile phone with to you a hardware store. A lot of hardware stores have easy to understand diagrams of a faucet system that you can have. The reason for a picture is to ensure you purchase the right part. Be sure that before doing any work on your sink you make sure to turn the vales off so that water doesn’t go everywhere.

Other Problems that Occur In Your Home

An incorrectly placed flapper valve will result in a running toilet. You will notice this as you probably jiggle the toilet handle when flushing the toilet. Replacing the whole system is really easy & affordable! Prior to going to the hardware store, open the tank to see if the problems you can see.

Unfortunately using a chemical to unblock a toilet does not work. You are best off trying to plunge it with a plunger. Usually the problem disappears before ten plunges, if it doesn’t, you might to try an “auger” or “snake”. As you insert the auger into the toilet, give it a good twist to break any blockages.

People love to fix things themselves as it saves money and gives a sense of achievement. If what you try doesn’t work, then you will need to call a plumbing professional to sort out the problem. Be careful not to do further damage when attempting to fix the problem yourself!

Sinks in the kitchen and bathrooms stand a chance of getting blocked at some stage with the frequent use. This often occurs at the worst time possible. Usually this occurs when you are entertaining your guests! However, there is no need to fret. Help is right under your nose in your own home or business.
What you will require
  • Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Plunger
  • Hot water
If possible, the first thing to do is find the reason for the blockage hapening. There is usually a good reason for a blockage and hopefully this is not hard for you to find. By finding the blockage, you have done most the work needed to unblock it.
However, if you can not find out where the blockage is occurring, then you need to keep reading on...
Usually when there is a blocked drain in your home you are able to unblock the drain yourself by using a plunger. In this case, no plumber will be needed thus saving you heaps of money! Should a plunger not do the right job, then you will need to use other methods and materials in your home to unblock the drain blockage.
Other than a plunger, vinegar and soda serve as a great tool & is extremely effective to unblock most drains. Most people store vinegar and baking soda in their kitchen cupboards.  Follow the short steps below to unblock your drain
  1. Boil water on a stove
  2. Pour approx one cup of baking soda down the drain
  3. Pour approx one cup of vinegar down the drain
  4. Allow the baking soda & vinegar to settle for 10-15 mis. This should hopefully dissolve whatever is causing the blockage.
  5. Pour the pot of boiling water down the drain to remove any debris that may still posibly exist.
It’s important that you start practicing preventive measures to stop your drain from blocking again. Many people perform the baking soda and vinegar routine once a month as a safety measure. Be sure that after washing your hair, you remove any hair that is lodged into the drain to prevent blockages from occurring again. At all times, use a strainer in the sink to prevent food and other debris from clogging up your drain.
If none of the above techniques work, you may have a more serious problem in your drain. You will need to contact plumber Gold Coast to help you rectify the issue.
